Classroom Spotlight: Ms. Krissy's Classroom

Last week we began the unit of study on Trees. The vocabulary focus was on different parts of a tree. Some concepts that were introduced included how trees grow and the colors of leaves in the fall. To bring their learning to life, they went on a nature walk to find trees around the school. The children had so much fun collecting sticks, leaves, and acorns, which they later explored at the sensory and science tables.

In the classroom, they got creative with tree art projects using paint and lots of fine motor work. The children practiced ripping paper and cutting with scissors to build hand strength and coordination. A special highlight of the week was being invited to visit the new school building site! Each child got to place a handprint on the final roof beam before it goes up. What a memorable experience!

Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences

Fall parent/teacher conferences were today and will be next Thursday, October 16. Parent/teacher conferences on October 16 will be in-person and will be from 3:30-7:00 p.m. in your child’s classroom at the ECC.

Please sign-up for conferences using Parent Square. Your child’s teacher sent you invitations on Monday, September 29.

If you need an interpreter, please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible.

Car Seats

Please have your child in the right car seat for your child's age, height, and weight in your vehicle when you drop-off or pick-up your child from school.

The Child Passenger Protection Act requires that all children under age 8 be properly secured in an appropriate child safety restraint system.

Children ages 2 to 4 should remain in a rear-facing safety seat for as long as possible, or until they are at the upper height or weight limit of the seat. When a child out- grows a rear-facing safety seat, he or she may transition to a forward-facing seat with a harness system.

Children ages 4-8 should be secured in a forward-facing safety seat with an internal harness system until they reach the upper height or weight limit allowed by the car seat manufacturer. When a child outgrows the forward-facing seat, he or she may transition to a belt-positioning booster seat.

Flu Clinic

We are offering flu vaccinations to students on Monday, November 10, 2025 in the morning at the Early Childhood Center. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile through Advocate Children’s Hospital will operate school-based flu vaccination clinics for students. Participation in the flu vaccination is voluntary, and participating students will be given the injectable vaccine.

If you would like for your child to receive the flu vaccine at school, please complete and return the Influenza Vaccine Consent Form. Consent forms are due October 24, 2025

Parents/guardians will need to be present at the time of your child’s appointment to support your child getting a shot.  Parents of students who attend the ECC in the afternoons are welcome to make an appointment in the morning but must accompany their child to the appointment.  Afternoon appointments are not available.
